Numerical methods help?

Hi, I have a question and i really need a sincere answer. I am trying to learn numerical methods but i feel lost when i read numerical methods books. they are only full of mathematical notations without explaining cleary with examples. please if there is someone out there who really learned numerical methods , would you please give me some tips? what book/website did you learn from? what was your study technique? Thanks alot
