A river- ak ramanujan... i have a doubt in this poem?

the poet tells about the people who are happy to see the river flooding the city madurai after many years ignoring the a couple of cows death and one pregnant woman who is to deliver twin babies with colour diapers.he completely forget about the river which was dry before and he was in Ecstasy when the river was in full spate spreading to the near by villages destroying humans and animals but has recollected the good time when the river was with less water and expressing what the people were doing .yu wrong as the poet describes about the flooding of river vaigai not about temples.
