How can I earn back my wife's respect after a man severely beat me up in front of my child and her?

Long story short, my wife and I of 12 years were at a pro football game w/ our son... I'm normally a very calm soft spoken guy, but a younger guy mid twenties cut in line stepping on my wife's toe. I placed my forearm to his chest and said "sir we're here you need to get behind us." he said, "us?" i said "yes my wife and I" he pointed to my wife right in front of my son and said, "this b**ch is too fine for you anyways, you probably don't know how to handle that anyway) Whatever that means but i never have hit a man before even as a kid and I punched him and subsequently he really beat me up badly. I did notify authorities at the scene and my wife was obviously embarred. When we got home she said "how dare you sit there and take a beating like a pu**y, i don't know why i married you in the first place!" She said other things like she should have went home with the other guy because he apparently is a "real" man and she can't even fathom sleeping with me cause she won't get turned on now at all and said she couldn't really even before because it would be like "sleeping with a little boy" What can I do to earn her respect back? I don't want to appear a coward in front of my son mainly, any advice for a dad who feels like a failure?
