What can I do to help my local church?

I am in my late 20's. I am a quiet guy Much of the congregation at the church I attend is older 50+ crowd makes up the highest percentage. I don't know where to fit in but really want to help I've asked my pastor about things and he never gets back to me I've prayed about it and I know I should be doing something instead of simply "going" but how do I get started and how do I know what I should be helping with?
